黄曼梨 Mary Wong

黄曼梨 Mary Wong,1913年生于香港，,原名黄文素,曾名黄曼丽,广东中山人。就读于庇理罗士女子师范学校，早期在中国内地当女演员，参加拍摄默片《江湖二十四侠》。1930年考进上海暨南影片公司演员班 ，1932年加入联华影业公司香港分厂，主演 《古寺鹃声》等三部默片，早期饰演贤妻良母、小家碧玉和大家闺秀的角色，如《春晖》、《小妇人》等。1937年与导演谢益之结婚。

40年代的黄曼梨已是华南影坛的风云人物，以精湛演技及深厚的修养内涵赢得“悲剧圣手”的美誉。1940年主演粤语片《人海泪痕》，获得好评光复后黄曼梨参演了1947年的《复员泪》，其他作品如《忍弃枕边人》及《守得云开见月明》等，均以表扬母爱伟大或替含冤妇女诉不平为旨。

1952年参加创办中联影片公司 。曾与香港进步电影工作者共同发起组织香港华南电影工作者联合会，担任该会两届理事长。晚年演出的粤语电影、电视作品中,多是演恶家姑的角色。1971年加入无线电视成为艺员，参加拍摄《抉择》、《风云》、《亲情》等剧作。1976年曾加入丽的电视至1979年重返TVB，至1987年，正式退休。

黄曼梨与陈皮梅、黎灼灼、李倩苹、徐意、甘露、郑文霞、李月清、马笑英、容玉意、黎雯、高伟兰（卢敦夫人）等结义金兰组成“十二金钗”。
1990年代，黄曼梨患上老人痴呆症，与夫婿共同入住老人院，而在1995年，获颁发第14届香港电影金像奖终身成就奖，至1998年4月8日傍晚病逝，享年85岁。 
Huang Manli （Mary Wong）, born in Hong Kong in 1913, formerly known as Huang Wensu, is a native of Zhongshan, Guangdong. Studied at the Pilaros Girls' Normal School, she worked as an actress in mainland China in the early days, and participated in the filming of the silent film "Twenty-Four Heroes of Jianghu". In 1930, she was admitted to the actor class of Shanghai Jinan Film Company. In 1932, she joined the Hong Kong branch of Lianhua Film Company and starred in three silent films including "The Voice of the Ancient Temple Cuckoo". In the early days, she played the roles of a good wife and mother, lady, such as "Chunhui". ", "Little Women" and so on. In 1937, she married director Xie Yizhi. In the 1940s, Huang Manli was already a figure in the South China film industry, winning the reputation of "tragic master" with her superb acting skills and profound self-cultivation. In 1940, she starred in the Cantonese film "Tears of the Poor People". After that, Huang Manli participated in the "Tears of Demobilization" in 1947, all aimed at praising the greatness of maternal love or suing injustice for wronged women. In 1952, sheparticipated in the establishment of Zhonglian Film Company.She once co-founded the Hong Kong South China Film Workers Association with Hong Kong progressive film workers, and served as the chairman of the association for two terms. In the Cantonese films and TV works performed in her later years, most of them played the role of the villain. In 1971, She joined TVB as an artist and participated in the filming of dramas such as "Choice", "Storm", "Family Love". In 1976, She joined RediTV and returned to TVB in 1979. In 1987, She officially retired. Huang Manli and Chen Pimei, Li Zhuozhuo, Li Qianping, Xu Yi, Ganlu, Zheng Wenxia, Li Yueqing, Ma Xiaoying, Rong Yuyi, Li Wen, Gao Weilan (Mrs. Lu Dun), etc. formed the "Twelve Golden Hairpins". In the 1990s, Huang Manli suffered from Alzheimer's disease and was admitted to a nursing home with her husband. In 1995, She was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 14th Hong Kong Film Awards. She passed away on the evening of April 8, 1998 at 85 years old.
