Gao Baoshu 高宝树

ao Baoshu 高宝树, alias: Gao Haoru, was born in Jiangsu in 1932. Gao Baoshu's father, Gao Jianqing, was a scholar of the Qing Dynasty. When she was thirteen years old, her father died, and her family fell into poverty. She was forced to leave Xuzhou Normal University, which was about to graduate, to work as a local news reporter for "Zhengdao Bao" in Bengbu, Anhui. Later, she joined the troupe and performed with the troupe in Nanjing, Shanghai, Vietnam, Myanmar and other places. She met and married the actor Jiang Nan who was in the same troupe. In 1951, she went to Hong Kong as a film actress. The first as "Turn Upside Down", and served as announcer. In 1952, she joined Yonghua Films as a basic actress; in 1955, Yonghua Films graduated and switched to Xinhua Films. She went to Japan to shoot Hong Kong's first color film "Begonia Red" (starring Li Lihua), and also made films for other film companies. In 1958, she joined the Shaw Brothers as a basic actress and performed different roles in the movies. Works include "A Thousand Charms" and "No Love". At the same time, she also participated in a lot of behind-the-scenes work, serving as the dubbing foreman, and also followed Cheng Gang and Yue Feng as assistant directors. In 1970, she directed the film "Feng Fei Fei" for the first time, starring He Lili and Nanjing Xun. In 1971, she left Shaw Brothers and formed Baoshu Film Company with her second husband, Bo Wenqi, integrating producer, director and actor. In the 1980s, she began to fade out of the film industry. Gao Baoshu died of illness on July 20, 2000 at the age of 68.
