Lee Chin
Lee Chin was born in Malaya (or Singapore) in 1912, originally named Li Hanqing, from Dongguan, Guangdong. A Hong Kong Cantonese film actor, one of the "Four Great Actors" in Cantonese films that year. Studied at Shanghai Yinghua Middle School. In 1935, he was admitted to the "Star Talent Training Institute" organized by Shanghai "Star Film Company". In 1937, he transferred to "Lianhua Film Company", and "Scenery under the Moon" in "Lianhua Symphony" (1937) was the first film he starred in. After the outbreak of the Anti-Japanese War, he moved to Hong Kong, and his first film starring role was "Miss Hooligan" (1938). From 1938 to 1941, he starred in seven films, including the Cantonese film "Blood Splattered in Baoshan City" (1938) and the Mandarin film "A Thousand Miles of the Future" (1941). After the fall of Hong Kong, he joined the "Chinese Repertory Theater" to perform dramas such as "Thunderstorm" and "Sunrise". After the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, the first film he returned to Hong Kong to star in was the Mandarin film "Autumn Water" (1946), and the first Cantonese film was "Iron Bravery" (1947). In addition, he starred in the Mandarin film "The Quiet Jialing River" (1949) and the Cantonese classic "Pearl River Tears" (1950) in "Southland" and "Dajiang" and other film companies. In the early 1950s, he starred in "Longma Film Company" in "A Separation of Boards" (1952), "Children of Rivers and Lakes" (1952), and "Between Water and Fire" (1955). He is one of the founders and shareholders of Zhonglian Film Company. In "Zhonglian", he starred in "Thousands of People" (1953), "The Wall" (1956) and "Money" (1959). In the late 1950s, he starred in "The Legend of the Wife" (1957) by "Phoenix" and "Who Is the Murderer" (1957) by "Xinlian". From 1935 to 1976, he participated in nearly 100 films, including "Rouge Tiger" (1956) by "Guangyi", "Gone with the Heart" (1970) by "Flying Dragon", and "Thunderstorm" by "Overseas Chinese". "(1957) and so on. Difficult Lover (1978) was his last film. He has since retired from film due to age and health problems. Li Qing married Rong Xiaoyi, an actress of the same period in 1941, and they had one son (Li Xiong) and two daughters (Li Ailing and Li Ailian). Died on July 14, 2000 at the age of 88.
