Lin Dai林黛 was born in Nanning in 1934. She once studied in the Music Department of Guangxi Provincial Art College. In 1949, she immigrated to Hong Kong with her father, Cheng Siyuan, and studied at Leiden College and New Asia College in Hong Kong. Lin Dai was only 17 years old when she first entered the film industry. However, for some reason, Yuan Yangan, the boss of the Great Wall Company who accepted her as a basic actress, always let her sit on the bench. Although Yan Jun, a popular niche in the company, was the "flower protector", the rich boss kept pestering her endlessly, making her take the trouble. Therefore, on December 8, 1951, Lin Dai, unable to figure it out, committed suicide by swallowing a large amount of sleeping pills for the first time, and was fortunately rushed to the hospital by Yan Jun to save her life. In 1952, she transferred to Yonghua Film Company and became famous for starring in the film "Cui Cui" adapted from Shen Congwen's novel "Border Town". Later, she starred in nearly 40 films in Hong Kong Yonghua, Xinhua, Guofeng, Cathay Pacific, Shaw Brothers, Dianmao and other film companies, playing various types of roles. In 1957, she played two roles in the film "Golden Lotus" and won the Best Actress Award at the 4th Asian Film Festival. In 1958, she starred in the film "Diao Chan" and won the Best Actress Award at the 5th Asian Film Festival. Afterwards, she starred in the song and dance film "A Thousand Charms" and the literary film "No Love", won the Best Actress Award at the 8th and 9th Asian Film Festival, and won the Special Commemorative Award at the 13th Asian Film Festival. After that, she temporarily quit the film industry to study Honorary Student at the Department of Drama, Columbia University. Then she married Long Chengxun. After marriage, Lin Dai did not quit the film industry, but continued to make films. Her fourth Asia-Pacific Best Actress Award, "No Love", was filmed in 1962. In 1963, with a big belly again, Lin Dai went to the United States to give birth to her son Long Zonghan. At this time, the contradiction between Lin Dai and Long Shengxun became increasingly exposed, and fierce quarrels often occurred. At the same time, director Li Hanxiang of Shaw Brothers cast "Old Star" Lottie and newcomer Ling Bo to star in "Liang Shanbo and Zhu Yingtai", the pinnacle of Shaw Brothers Huangmei Opera, creating the latest historical glory of Shaw Brothers , This blow to Lin Dai is like adding insult to injury, making her feel as if she has been abandoned.
