Chan Po-chu陳寶珠
Connie Chan Po-chu陳寶珠, born on December 10, 1946, was born in Waihai, Xinhui, Guangdong. Her original name was He Peiqin. There are 16 brothers and sisters in her family, ranking 8th. When she was 4 years old, her family was poor, so she was given to Gong Fenhong and Chen Feinong by her parents for adoption. At the age of 7, she participated in the assembly of Peking Opera, and her first Peking Opera performance was "Sanchakou" with Shen Zhihua. From the age of 9, Chan Po-chu learned northern martial arts from the famous actress Fen Juhua, and often performed on stage with Master Fen. When she was 10 years old, she co-starred in Cantonese opera with Liang Xingbo's daughter Liang Baozhu, and then turned to the screen. She and six female movie stars, formed a "Jin Lan", the famous "Seven Princesses" in the Cantonese film industry. In 1957, Chan Po-chu, Liang Baozhu, senior sisters Chen Haoyu, Liang Xingbo and Chen Feinong formed the "Zaibao Theater Troupe". After the performance, she was appreciated by Ren Jianhui and accepted as an apprentice. In 1958, at the age of 11, Chan Po-chu joined MP & GI and started her film career. For the first time, she participated in the Mandarin film "Scout Coach" co-operated with Liang Xingbo. In the early 1960s, she mainly acted in ancient costume martial arts films. Since 1966, she has been shooting fashion music films . The "Colorful Youth" co-produced with Xiao Fangfang pushed the image of the two young girls to the peak. The two each have dozens of Movie clubs and fan clubs. In 1967, Chan Po-chu acted in as many as 32 films, with a salary of up to 20,000 Hong Kong dollars each. During the period, she mainly cooperated with Lu Qi, and there were even rumors of a long-term relationship. Due to the gradual decline of Cantonese films, she finally withdrew in 1970 and stayed in San Francisco to study after going to the United States to perform on stage. Only when she returned to Hong Kong during the summer vacation in 1972, she filmed the Mandarin martial arts film "Gecko" directed by Chu Yuan, which became the last film she performed. She also appeared on TVB's "June 18 Charity Relief Night" to raise money by cooking rice. In 1974, while studying in the United States, she met Yang Zhanmei, who was also studying business in the United States, through a friend's introduction. After dating for more than a year, she got married and gave birth to her son Yang Tianjing. But the marriage lasted only until 1982. Chan Po-chu now lives with her family in Tai Hang, Hong Kong Island.
