Lan Ping (Jiang Qing)

Lan Ping (Jiang Qing, March 1914-May 14, 1991), whose real name was Li Yunhe, went to Shanghai to join Dentsu Film Company in March 1935 and changed her name to "Lan Ping". In June, Lan Ping was well received for starring in the drama "Nara". Later, she played supporting roles in two films, "Liberty" and "Cityscape". In September 1935, Lan Ping lived with the film critic Donner. In April 1936, Lan Ping and Tang Na got married and participated in a collective wedding ceremony under the Six Harmonies Pagoda in Hangzhou. But shortly after the marriage, because she still kept in touch with Yu Qiwei, the marriage changed. In July 1935, Tang Na attempted suicide in Jinan. After returning to Shanghai, Lan Ping joined Lianhua Film Company and participated in the film "The Blood on Wolf Mountain" directed by Fei Mu, playing the role of Liu Sansao in the film. In February 1937, Lan Ping starred in the drama "Big Thunderstorm" (directed by Zhang Ming). And starred in the film "Wang Laowu" directed by Cai Chusheng. On May 30, Tang Na attempted suicide a second time. In June 1937, Lan Ping published the article "My Confession" in "Ta Kung Pao", and lived with director Zhang Ming, and was fired by Lianhua Film Company at the same time. In the autumn of 1935 and 1937, she went to Yan'an, changed her name to Jiang Qing, and later married Mao Zedong, the leader of the Communist Party of China. During the Cultural Revolution, she became well-known as a member of the Gang of Four.
