Mei Qi梅绮

Mei Qi梅绮 (1923-1966), formerly known as Jiang Duanyi, was originally from Nanhai County, Guangdong Province, and was born in Beijing in 1923. Jiang's family is a well-known family. Jiang Duanyi's grandfather is Jiang Kongyin, Tai Shigong of Guangdong, his father was a member of Congress during the Republic of China, and his uncle is Nanhai Thirteen Lang Jiang Yuyu, a famous Cantonese opera writer. Mei Qi is beautiful. When she was 6 years old, she made a guest appearance in "Smart Idiot". In 1937, she officially joined the film industry and participated in the first film "The Rest of a Hundred Battles". In 1937 (14 years old), she officially joined the film industry and took the stage name Mei Qi. In 1949, their family fled from Shanghai to Hong Kong. She have cooperated with many well-known directors and produced in various works. She was known as the first film queen in the Cantonese film industry. Mei Qi has been in film for 23 years and has acted in more than 70 films. After Mei Qi became popular, although her career has been smooth, she has been very bumpy in other aspects. In that turbulent era, entering the society too early had a lot of adverse effects on her. She has experienced more than one failed marriage. In 1941, just before Hong Kong was about to be captured by the Japanese army, she suddenly married movie star Zhang Ying in a flash. The marriage lasted only 3 years. After that, Mei Qi married again, but eventually ended in divorce. After filming "Nezha Splitting the Mountain to Save His Mother" in 1960, Mei Qi began to engage in Christian missionary work. She was the founder of the New Testament Church and traveled between Hong Kong and Taiwan. However, some people said that her church was not decent. Until 1966, Mei Qi died of tongue cancer at the age of 43.
