Xiao Qilin

Xiao Qilin (1946-March 31, 1987), Xiao Qilin is his stage name, formerly known as Chen Yuanzong, known as the "King of Somersaults". Since childhood, he has performed with his father on the Cantonese opera stage and is also a child star in the movie. In his early years, he was a martial arts master of Li Yingsheng. His father and Bruce Lee's father Li Haiquan were colleagues in the theater troupe, so the two are family friends and bosom friends. In 1953, he and Bruce Lee collaborated on "Father's Fault". In 1970, Bruce Lee's acting career in the United States was frustrated due to racial discrimination, so he wanted to return to Hong Kong to develop, so he asked Xiao Qilin to help him make the way. Li returned to Hong Kong in April of that year and participated in TVB "Happy Tonight", Li's Two interviews and other programs on TV "Golden Jade Mantang". With the help of Xiao Qilin, he negotiated cooperation with Run Run Shaw at Shaw Brothers Company to make a film, but due to various reasons, the negotiation failed and he returned to the United States. In 1971, after Bruce Lee signed with Golden Harvest Company, Xiao Qilin was also arranged to participate in the performances of two films, "Fist of Fury" and "Way of the Dragon". In 1972, Bruce Lee spared no effort to help Xiao Qilin to the top position, and recommended him to be the leading actor in "The King of Boxing" ("Kirin Palm"). During the filming process, the studio where "Kirin Palm" was located was damaged by mudslides. For Bruce Lee's sake, he was able to move into Golden Harvest Studio to continue filming. Bruce Lee later took part in the film's promotional activities before "The Way of the Dragon" was finished, and volunteered as a martial arts instructor for the film. It's a pity that the film has no other merits except for fighting; therefore, the little unicorn still has no ability to become popular in the end. At 2:30 a.m. on March 31, 1987 (Tuesday), while filming the location for the Hong Kong movie "Never Bow Your Head", on the highway from Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia, to Penang, a truck knocked down the car on which Little Kylin was riding. The car, the car rolled down the hillside, Xiao Qilin and Chen Jinqiang, the investor of the movie, were seriously injured and died on the spot. Xiao Qilin was only 41 years old at the time. After the body was cremated locally, the ashes were brought back to Hong Kong by his widow and cousin Liu Weiming, and enshrined in the "Tiande Sheng Church Society" in Shatin.
