Yuan Kui (元奎)

Yuan Kui (元奎), whose real name is Yin Yuankui, was born on February 15, 1950. He is one of the "Seven Little Fortunes" of the Yuan family class. He is a teacher and brother with Sammo Hung, Jackie Chan, Yuan Hua, and Yuan Bin. He is not only a very good actor, but also a very powerful behind-the-scenes worker of the movie. He has worked as a director, martial arts instructor, and producer. He has been a dragon and tiger martial artist since 1970, but he is low-key and rarely shows up. Dozens of movies such as "Fang Shiyu", "Cartoon Veyron", "The Gambler", "New Fist of Fury" (version by Stephen Chow) and so on are all directed by him. After Qi Xiaofu left the stage performance, he entered the film studio as a martial artist, and later officially served as a martial arts instructor. He has participated in "New Shushan Swordsman", "Master Dragon", "Hell Without Doors" and other films. He once worked in Taiwan, and was invited by Wu Siyuan to return to Hong Kong to direct his debut film "Dragon Ninja" in 1982. At the same time, he was nominated for Best Action Director at the 2nd Hong Kong Film Awards. In 1990, he co-directed "The Holy Gambler" with Liu Zhenwei, which not only made Stephen Chow popular, but also became the box office champion of the year. As an actor, Yuan Kui has portrayed many characters, such as General Cao Ying in Moonlight Box; Uncle De in Gambler 2: Street Gambler; Li Guobang in Fang Shiyu's sequel and so on. It also appeared in "New Fist of Fury" and "The Saint of Gamblers", but the most impressive dialogue appeared in "Safety First" in "Fang Shiyu 2". In recent years, with the increase of age, Yuen Kui has basically stopped acting. He occasionally makes guest appearances. More often, he does some behind-the-scenes work as a director and producer, and continues to engage in the film career he loves. Yuan Kui is also Jet Li's queen action director. He went to Hollywood with Jet Li to develop and achieved quite dazzling results. The actions he designed have been unanimously recognized by Hollywood, and he has participated in the action design of many Hollywood blockbusters. In recent years, the focus has returned to the Chinese film industry, participating in the action scenes of many films such as "Red Cliff" and "New Shaolin Temple".
