Bai Hong白 虹
Bai Hong白 虹 (February 24, 1920-May 28, 1992), formerly known as Bai Lizhu and Bai Shumin, was a descendant of the Qing royal family (Bai Hong called herself Zhenghuang Qi in the "Confession" published in "Shenbao"), full of mixed blood, and a famous singer and actor in the 1930s and 1940s. In 1931, Shanghai Mingyue Society (owner Li Jinhui) recruited students in Beijing. Bai Lizhu, who was born into a family of royal descendants, took the initiative to sign up with her love for singing and dancing, and was admitted on the spot. When she was young, she left her family and went to Shanghai alone with the Mingyue Society to receive strict singing and dancing training, and soon began to appear on stage and record records. When she first joined the Mingyue Society and paid homage to Li Jinguang, who was 13 years older than her, she laughed inexplicably when she was young, which made Li Jinguang laugh and formed a bond with each other. In the Mingyue Club, Bai Hong formed a deep friendship with Li Mingjian, Wang Renmei, Li Lili, Nie Er, Jin Yan, Li Minghui, Zhou Xuan, Ying Yin, Zhang Fan, Yang Lucy and other members of different periods. In nearly 20 years of singing career, she has recorded more than 150 songs, second only to Zhou Xuan in the same period. She is one of the most famous singers in the 1930s and 1940s. She was a pillar of the Mingyue Society in the later period. She won the first Chinese singer election in 1934 (the second and third were Zhou Xuan and Wang Manjie), and she was awarded the "Queen of Singing". In 1945, she held a solo concert. She was one of the four major singers in the late 1930s (Wang Renmei, Bai Hong, Gong Qiuxia, Zhou Xuan), one of the four major singers in the north and south in the mid-1940s (Zhou Xuan, Bai Hong, Gong Qiuxia, Li Xianglan), one of the seven Shanghai singers in the late 1940s (Zhou Xuan, Bai Hong, Gong Qiuxia, Yao Li, Li Xianglan, Bai Guang, Wu Yingyin), and one of the three whites in the film world (Bai Hong, Bai Guang, Bai Yang). Due to the turmoil of the current situation and the difficulty of running the club, the Mingyue Club was dissolved and reorganized many times, but Bai Hong never left the Mingyue Club. With the rise of radio broadcasting, Bai Hong, Li Mingjian and others broadcast and sing on various radio stations every night in the name of Mingyue Society. In 1941, Bai Hong starred in the three films "Lonely Island Spring and Autumn", "Figs" and "Jade Broken Beads" in Jinxing Company, and each film must sing. In the context of the flood of costume films, Bai Hong injected fresh blood into the film industry with these high-quality fashion films and achieved great success. His acting skills and singing are very popular. The earliest release of "Figs" brought the art of Tanci to the screen, and it was an instant hit, with both blockbusters and word-of-mouth. In the same year, famous songs handed down such as "Lang is the Spring Breeze", "Spring Comes" and "Human Sea Drifting" were published. In 1942, "Jade Broken Beads" and "Once Upon a Time" starring Bai Hong were released around the Spring Festival. In "Jade Broken Beads", Bai Hong plays the role of mother and daughter. The role is heavy, and she boldly tries a kiss scene, which has attracted media attention. In the tragedy "Once Upon a Time", the character played by Bai Hong has experienced identities such as student, widow, and goddess. The theme song "Flowers in the Mirror and Moon in the Water" became popular. The four films starring Bai Hong in Jin Xing were not only popular nationwide, but were also shown in Southeast Asia. Among them, "Fig" and "Lonely Island Spring and Autumn" were long-running, and were even released in some regions after the founding of New China. With the end of the isolated island period, the Japanese took control of Shanghai's film and record industry, so Jinxing went out of business and merged into Zhonglian. Bai Hong refused some film appointments and invitations, and chose to take a break from filming. After giving birth to her fourth child in the second half of 1942, she actively prepared the stage play "Song of Neon Clothes" at the Meihua Theater. In the same year, famous songs such as "Moonlight on the River" were published. In 1948, she returned to the film industry and starred in films such as "A Remnant Dream of the Red Chamber" and "Murder in the Fog Night", and played the leading role in "Murder in the Fog Night", which was "a big hit" when it premiered. Famous songs such as "Don't Go So Fast", "Spray", "Intoxicating Lipstick", "Taihu Boat" and "Spinning Cotton" are popular and maintain their top status in the music scene. Once sang the new song "Poor Mom and Dad" live. Sing the song "Four Seasons" for the behind-the-scenes of the movie "Niannian Ruyi". Learn an instrument such as the cello. In 1949, he starred in the movie "The Song of the Nightingale", starred in stage plays and dramas such as "Other World", and recorded the last album "Lang Langyue/The Stabbed Hand". Bai Hong and Li Jinguang had two daughters and two sons together, and another child died young. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, the two officially divorced. In 1950, Bai Hong married Mao Yanhua, a drama actor, and Li Jinguang married Qi Fen, the housekeeper of the original family. Bai Hong and Mao Yanhua organized the "50s" theater troupe to hold a tour from Shanghai to Beijing. Persecuted during the Cultural Revolution. Soon after the storm hit, the Baihong couple, as "comers" in the 1930s and 1940s, were quarantined for review. Because a Shanghai film actor revealed that Bai Hong had talked with a tabloid reporter named Huang Mingxuan (who was a member of the "Three Youth League") in the Da Guangming Cafe in Shanghai in the 1940s, Bai Hong was labeled as a "special suspect" and locked in the "basement" of the troupe for more than a year. He was ordered to confess his "crime" and was interrogated endlessly. A large number of old performing arts materials were destroyed, and the criticism and total negation of songs in the 1930s and 1940s became an indelible "lump" in Bai Hong's heart. Bai Hong once had a nervous breakdown and was on the verge of suicide. In 1972, Bai Hong was sent to the Baoding army to shepherd sheep. After the catastrophe, Bai Hong's health collapsed and she suffered from severe nephritis. Retired in 1979. After the reform and opening up, many overseas enthusiastic fans came to Beijing to visit Bai Hong and gave her song records and tapes, which brought great comfort to Bai Hong in her later years. In 1992, Bai Hong was diagnosed with cancer, and the opportunity for treatment was delayed due to a misdiagnosis by the hospital. At the last moment of her life, Bai Hong could barely move. She lay on the bed and listened to the songs she had sung every day, and she burst into tears as she listened. At 17:55 on May 28, 1992, Bai Hong died in Beijing at the age of 72
