Law Lai Kuen (羅麗娟）

Law Lai Kuen (羅麗娟, 1920-August 4, 1999), formerly known as Luo Jietao, was born in Dongguan County, Guangdong Province. Her mother was Shen Xiaopei, the mainstay of the Cantonese Opera Kun troupe performed on the rooftop of Daxin Company in Guangzhou in the 1920s. , served as Zhengyin Baotou, played Xi Shi (at that time Zilan girl (Lu Qiwen) was her helper), and became popular, and then took the lead in "Meng Jiangnu Crying to Collapse the Great Wall", "Heavenly Jade Unicorn", "Koko's Daughter" and other plays. Law Lai Kuen performed with Ma Shizeng, and her first repertoire included "Broken Roots" and so on. In the early 1940s, Law Lai Kuen married the first wealthy husband surnamed Huang in Guangzhou, and they had six children. After coming to Hong Kong, Law Lai Kuen participated in film performances, from her screen debut in the Cantonese literary film "Local Champion" (December 1948) to Xiying's Cantonese song album "Nezha Havoc in Heaven" (August 1957, as the first heroine as Mrs. Li Jing), and participated in 14 films. Law Lai Kuen returned to the capital of Guangdong Province briefly in the winter of 1956. On October 30, 1957 (Wednesday), she visited Taiwan for the first time. In addition to Taipei City, she also visited Sun Moon Lake in Taichung and Tainan. On November 16, 1957 (Saturday), together with Liang Huaiyu, Lu Yin, Wang Wei, Gao Qingyun and other actors, they performed Cantonese opera for three nights in the auditorium of the "Three Army Nursery School" in Taipei. On the first night, they performed "Jade Sunflower Fan"; on the second and third nights, they performed "A Sword of Loyalty"; and returned to Hong Kong on the afternoon of November 20, 1957 (Wednesday). Law Lai Kuen immigrated to New York, USA in the late 1950s and married a local businessman. In June 1969, it was reported that she had a burst blood vessel and could not move. She needed her children from Hong Kong to live with her in the United States to take care of her. Law Lai Kuen passed away on August 4, 1999 at the age of 79.
