Qiu Ping(裘萍Kau Ping)

Qiu Ping(裘萍Kau Ping) was born on July 16, 1920 and died on January 2, 2012. Qiu Ping is a very good actress, and she is also very beautiful. Her ancestral home is Zhongshan, Guangdong, but she came to Suzhou when she was very young. Her father is the painter Wang Youtang. When she was studying at Suzhou Fine Arts College, she had already started acting in dramas. Became a professional actress in 1937 and joined drama clubs hosted by Fei Mu and Huang Zuolin. During this time she married Wu Jingping. In the late 1940s, Kau Ping came to Hong Kong and successively worked as an actress in Shaw Brothers, Great Wall, Phoenix and other companies. Her representative works include Fan Yi in "Thunderstorm" and Sister Pomegranate in "Three Smiles". She has been in the entertainment industry for more than 30 years, and has filmed more than 300 films. She has played different roles and left brilliant episodes. Her major works include "Thunderstorm" (1961) and "Three Smiles" (1964). The movie "Three Smiles" is very distinctive. The creators integrated local operas from various regions of China, especially those in the south of the Yangtze River, such as Xi Opera, Shanghai Opera, Huangmei Opera, Yang Opera, etc., as music materials, and created a large number of beautiful and easy-to-spread songs. Qiu Ping plays Sister Pomegranate in the play. Qiu Ping has a wide range of roles, she can play both a sad lady and a funny role. In "Three Smiles", this version of Sister Pomegranate has not been vilified, but the age is not the one in our impression. Qiu Ping's unique performance style made many audience laugh, but she didn't hate it, but felt very kind, thus proving her own strength. So the film became a hit after its premiere in Hong Kong in 1964. People of all ages love it, and it has received unanimous praise. In 1969, the film also won the Best Comedy Film Award at the 15th Asian Film Festival.
