Yao Wei (姚煒)

Yao Wei (姚煒), whose real name is Jin Yingying, was born in Shanghai in the late 1940s and encountered the Cultural Revolution in her childhood. Because her parents moved to Hong Kong, they were fostered at his uncle's house. Later, the police found that her parents had applied for Hong Kong immigration procedures for their children, so they approved the release to go to Hong Kong. Yao Wei loved singing since she was a child. She worked as a tailor with her father and sold stage costumes to artists to earn living expenses. she gradually became acquainted with the singers in Hong Kong karaoke halls and was recommended to learn singing from a singing teacher Xu Pei. At the age of 18, she was invited by the karaoke hall to join and started the road of acting. She started to sing professionally in Hong Kong in about 1973. Yao Wei is often invited to perform on stage in various parts of Southeast Asia. She was once invited to sing in Taiwan karaoke halls for two years and served as the Hong Kong host of Taiwan TV's travel program "Big Screen" (launched in 1977). Yao Wei signed a contract with Hong Kong TVB in 1978. The role of the rich and bitter woman in "Incompatible Powers" has established her position in the entertainment industry. She has participated in many TVB TV dramas and is known as the most feminine woman; Yao Wei's most eye-catching representative work is invited to Taiwan, participated in the performance of "The Last Night of the Golden Taiban", as the heroine in the play, played the protagonist in the novel, and received extremely high praise. In 1984, she was nominated for Best Actress in the 21st Golden Horse Awards, and was invited with Wang Guanxiong to be the host and hostess of the Golden Horse Awards. She is still praised as the "Forever Golden Taipan". Yao Wei lived with Zhao Shizeng in 1977 and gave birth to a daughter Zhao Shizhi in 1979. But Yao Wei took her daughter and left soon after. Later, Yao Wei married Yu Zhuqiang, an American overseas Chinese, and had a son, Yu Yaowen, but they also divorced in the end. Now Yao Wei is single. In recent years, she often travels to other places to preach the gospel. She enjoys her current life very much.
