You Min 尤敏
You Min 尤敏was born on August 19, 1936, a Hong Kong actress in the 1960s, formerly known as Bi Yuyi. Cantonese opera star Bai Yutang is her father, and her aunt is Yam Kim Fai . You Min, whose real name is Bi Yuyi, was born in a drama family, and her father Bai Yutang (real name Bi Kunsheng) is a famous Cantonese opera actor. Due to her family background, You Min had already made her debut in Bai Yutang's troupe around the age of nine, performing in the Cantonese opera "The Legend of Huang Feihu". Due to the busy work of her parents, she was sent to Macau when she was young and was taken care of by her grandmother. In 1952, when she was studying at the Sacred Heart Academy in Macau, she was discovered as an actress because of her outstanding appearance, and she took the stage name "You Min" herself. After You Min joined Shaw Brothers, she starred with Wang Hao and Huang He in the film "Jade Girl Huaichun", which immediately won the nickname "Jade Girl", but the film "Jade Girl Huaichun" did not perform well, and Shaw Brothers refused to release it on the market, so On the contrary, You Min met the audience for the first time in her second film "Tomorrow" (directed and directed by Tao Qin) in 1953. You Min was the first new star promoted by Shaw Brothers at that time, and co-starred with fellow newcomers Zhang Yang and Zhao Lei in many literary films directed by Tao Qin and Yan Jun, such as "Remnant Life", "Temptation", "The Well of Infatuation", "The Spring and Autumn Circus", "The Moonsets, the Crows Cry, and the Sky Is Frost" and so on. In 1954, You Min had a beautiful appearance in the film "Love of Humans and Ghosts", and the black and white photography was also very atmospheric. It was well received at the "Southeast Asian Film Festival" (the predecessor of "Asian Film Festival") that year. Then, Shaw Brothers took her as the main star and cooperated with South Korea in the color film "Exotic Mandarin". The story of the film is just an ordinary singer's tragicomedy. Apart from You Min's appearance, there is also magnificent color photography that impresses people. In July 1958, after the contract with Shaw Brothers expired, she switched to MP & GI. During this period, "The Love of a Jade Girl" and "A Happy Event" won the Best Actress in the 6th and 7th Asian Film Festival. Soon, she won the Best Actress at the 1st Golden Horse Awards for "Stars, Moon, and Sun", and her career reached a peak. Afterwards, she participated in many films co-produced by MP & GI and Japan's Toho Company. Her superb acting skills made the Japanese press call her "the Pearl of Hong Kong". In April 1964, after filming "Deep Palace Resentment", she married Hong Kong rich businessman Gao Fuqiu in London, England, and registered their marriage. The two have three sons, one of whom is the famous musical composer Gao Shizhang. On December 29, 1996, You Min died of a heart attack at the age of 60.
