Huang Feiran黄飞然

Huang Feiran黄飞然 (1922- ), senior vocalist, choir conductor and cellist. Born in Guangzhou and raised in Shanghai, he graduated from Shanghai St. John's University and studied voice and cello at the Shanghai National Conservatory of Music. After graduation, he joined the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, served as a band conductor in the ballroom, and then served as a middle school music teacher. While in Shanghai, Huang Feiran, who was good at singing alto, recorded many famous songs for EMI records, such as "First Love", "Passionate Eyes", "Youth Dance", etc. Among them, he also sang "Swear" with Ouyang Feiying and Yun Yun respectively. " and "Anonymous" and other songs. As early as 1944, she also sang chorus with Huang Yuanyin for coloratura soprano Li Xianglan's "Haiyan". After 1949, he first arrived in Hong Kong and joined the Hong Kong Symphony Orchestra as a cellist. He also recorded songs for Great Wall Records and Philips Records. He also sang behind the scenes for many movies. The songs at this time included "Birds in the Lin" and "A River Full of Red". etc., he also taught vocal music courses in middle schools and promoted choir music. After moving to Vancouver, Canada in 1975, he was often invited to judge singing competitions and host seminars on vocal music and conducting techniques. He founded the National Rhythm Chorus in 1984 and has been serving as the choir director, conductor and singing teacher. Under his leadership, the number of members has reached more than 200. Huang is also the conductor of the Choir of Ci En Memorial Chinese Union Church, the Vancouver Choral Orchestra and the Vancouver Taiwanese Choral Orchestra, and serves as the cellist of the Egger String Orchestra. He is often invited back to Hong Kong as a guest conductor in various types of concerts.
