Huang Yuanyin (黄源尹Jamson) was born on December 29, 1921, in Medan, Sumatra, Indonesia, to an overseas Chinese businessman family. His ancestral home is Nan'an, Fujian, and his father runs the "Yuanjin Trading Company" business. Huang Yuanyin is blessed with a good voice. He has loved singing since he was a child and often plays and sings with his guitar. However, his father hopes that he will inherit the family business and start a business. At the age of 6, he entered Medan Dunben Primary School and at the age of 10, he transferred to Sudong Middle School. When he was 13 years old (1933), his father sent him back to his ancestral home in Fujian to study. He first attended Xiamen Tongwen Middle School, and then went to Shanghai to study at the High School Affiliated to Jinan University in Shanghai. This is the first time Huang Yuanyin has returned to China. When the Anti-Japanese War broke out in 1937, 16-year-old Huang Yuanyin witnessed the crazy massacre and cruel plunder of our compatriots by the Japanese aggressors during the "August 13" Anti-Japanese War in Songhu. Unparalleled, he had no choice but to return to his hometown with a group of overseas Chinese from Nanyang. However, his patriotic thoughts of opposing Japanese imperialism and never becoming a slave to his country were deeply rooted in his mind. Back in Medan, Huang Yuanyin taught music at the elementary school attached to Sutong Middle School in Medan. On the other hand, he set up a choir to promote the Anti-Japanese War and national salvation. The activities were frequent, but he was opposed by his father. His eldest brother Yuanchang strongly supported him, believing that his younger brother had a talent for singing. He should develop into music, so he was asked to learn singing from the coloratura soprano Botterweg of the Leipzig Conservatory of Music in Germany. Huang Yuanyin studied hard and made great progress in his studies. One year later, he held a recital in Medan at the age of 17, which became a sensation. In 1939, the Wuhan Chorus led by trumpeter Xia Zhiqiu went to Nanyang to perform a fund-raising performance for the Anti-Japanese War and national salvation. Huang Yuanyin learned from the newspaper that the Wuhan Chorus was performing in Kuala Lumpur. He was very excited and ran from Medan to Kuala Lumpur without authorization and asked to join. Choir, returned to China to fight the war. Xia Zhiqiu was deeply moved by this patriotic young overseas Chinese. After listening to his singing, he thought he was a singing talent with great potential and agreed to let him join. At that time, Xia Zhiqiu was writing "Homesickness Song" and asked Huang Yuanyin to try singing it. From then on, "Homesickness Song" was widely circulated at home and abroad and became famous for a while. "Homesickness Song" sung by Huang Yuanyin became the theme song of the 1939 film "Auspicious People and Heavenly Appearances" shot in Chongqing, and it became famous for a while. This song has also become Huang Yuanyin's most popular repertoire. His sultry singing voice is still unmatched. Later, Huang Yuanyin returned to Chongqing with the Wuhan Choir full of patriotic enthusiasm. This was his second return to China. This return trip went through a lot of hardships, the journey was difficult, and there was no food or shelter. Huang Yuanyin, who grew up in a wealthy family, did not complain at all. Coincidentally, when passing through Dali, Yunnan, Huang Yuanyin met banker Zhou Cangbai and his wife Dong Yanliang. At that time, their eldest daughter Zhou Xiaoyan (a famous Chinese coloratura soprano) was studying vocal music in Paris, and their son Zhou Deyou died of illness due to overwork during the Anti-Japanese War propaganda. Zhou Cangbai is a man who loves talents, and Huang Yuanyin is similar to Zhou Deyou, so he is very popular with the Zhou family and treats him as his own son. Huang Yuanyin calls Zhou Cangbai and Dong Yanliang "father" and "mother", and treats the children of the Zhou family They refer to each other as brothers and sisters, calling Zhou Xiaoyan "Second Sister", and the Zhou family calls him "Xiao Huang" and "Blackie" (Little Blackie), as close as one family. On August 28, 1972, Huang Yuanyin suffered a heart attack. After resuscitation failed, he passed away silently. He was only 51 years old. He leaves behind a wife and 3 young children.
