Wang Wei王伟
Wang Wei王伟, whose real name is Wang Yongwei, was born in 1941. In 1963, he was introduced by his father's friend and joined the Guangyi Film Company to shoot Cantonese films. In 1971, he turned to the development of the television industry, thus starting his "green leaf" era in the history of Hong Kong television. Wang Wei's television career began at Asia Television in Hong Kong and entered TVB after the expiration of his contract with ATV. He played Xiong Dingyi in the ATV TV series "Huo Dongge" (1984), Lu Buwei in "The First Emperor of Qin" (1986), and the wealthy businessman Qiao Yongfa in the TVB TV series "Fire Rose" (1992), and "The Legend of the Condor Heroes" (1994, Julian Cheung version) as Yan Honglie, "The Swordsman" (1996, Lu Songxian version) as Yue Buqun, "The Legend of the Dragon" (1997, Huang Rihua version) as Yelu Hongji, "The Deer and the Cauldron" (1998, Jordan Chan version) as Wu Sangui, "Blue Blood Sword" (2000, Lam Jiadong version) as Emperor Chongzhen, and "Xun Qin Ji" (2001) as Wu Yingyuan, the leader of Wubao. Wang Wei has appeared most in TV series adapted from Jin Yong's martial arts novels, such as "Legend of the Condor Heroes", "The Swordsman", "Dragon", "The Deer and the Cauldron", "Blue Blood Sword"... almost in all TVB versions He is indispensable in Jin Yong's martial arts dramas. Because Wang Wei plays supporting roles, most of his names are not in people's memory. Wang Wei is married to the 1970s Hong Kong fashion model Ho Mengna and has two sons and one daughter. His daughter Wang Congxi joined TVB by participating in the 2003 Miss Hong Kong contest. In 2002, Wang Wei moved to Toronto, Canada after retirement; he died on December 6, 2011 at the age of 70.
