Chan Yau Hau陳有后
Chen Youhou (Chan Yau Hau陳友有后, 1915 - June 12, 2010), formerly known as Chan Yau Hau, known as the Hou Shu, is a former Hong Kong senior actor and drama instructor. In his early years, he studied at Tong Chai Secondary School in Wan Chai, Hong Kong Island, and performed in plays in Guangzhou. In 1947, he came to Hong Kong to develop, and began to train talents for Lai TV in the 1950s, which lasted for five years. On the other hand, he also directed training classes for TVB for five years in the 1970s. Later, he returned to Li's TV to coach for another three years. Its students include Kam Kwok-liang, Su Xingxuan, Johnnie To, Chow Yun-fat, Wang Mingquan, Ng Mang-tat, Lam Ling-tung, Wang Mingquan and Wan Ziliang, etc. These people have a certain reputation in the film industry. According to the recollections of a retired teacher from Pius 12 Catholic School in Fuk Wah Estate, Ngau Tau Kok, Chen Youhou served as the principal of the school from 1964 to 1966 and also participated in stage plays. At that time, he was invited to join TVB by his friend Zhong Jinghui, whom he met while doing dramas. Later, in order not to be too trapped, Chen Youhou went to teach at Hong Kong Baptist College and Zhuhai College respectively, and spent the rest of his time acting in TV series. Chen Youhou started starring in many classic TV series for TVB and Li's (the predecessor of ATV) in the 1970s, including "Family Change" and "Frenzy". Chen Youhou is a licorice actor; her good roles are uncle, eminent monk, and old man. His representative work is the collaboration with Chen Xiaochun in "The Deer and the Cauldron", in which he plays the role of Master Hong. Until 1992, he immigrated to Canada and returned to Hong Kong to settle in his later years. By 2009, his health gradually deteriorated and he suffered from pneumonia and dementia. He died of illness on June 12, 2010 at the age of 95. Huang Qiusheng, Zhang Jincheng, Gan Guoliang and Wan Ziliang, who were students of Chen Youhou, also went to the mourning hall to pay their respects in person. Chow Yun-fat, Andy Lau and Lau Ching Wan sent flower cards to pay tribute.
