Pan Dihua (Rebecca Pan)

Pan Dihua (Rebecca Pan), originally from Wuxi, Jiangsu. Originally named Pan Wanqing, she was born in Shanghai on December 29, 1930, and moved to Hong Kong with her family. At the age of 18, she got the opportunity to record popular songs. In 1957, she officially started her career as a professional singer. She first worked as a singer in nightclubs. In the 1960s, her singing career reached its peak and became a famous singer in Hong Kong in the 1960s. (The other four are Pan Xiuqiong, Gu Mei, Cui Ping, and Jing Ting). At this time, she still uses her real name "Pan Wanqing". In 1964, she signed a contract with EMI Records in London and released her first Mandarin album "Lover's Bridge". She had already started recording records before, and together with the recordings at EMI, she recorded many English and Mandarin songs from 1959 to 1975, such as "My Hong Kong" (1965), "Didn' t We?" (1970) were both solo hits. She has also performed around the world. In 1967, Pan Dihua became one of the seven pillars when TVB "Happy Tonight" started broadcasting. She later formed her own record label. In 1975, she recorded her last album, A Christmas Carol. In 1972, Pan Dihua officially began to supervise the production of the musical stage play "The White Lady" . It cost millions of Hong Kong dollars. It began to perform at the Music Palace Theater on March 12. It was the first Chinese-language musical in Hong Kong. The sales were mediocre, and Pan Dehua suffered heavy losses as a result. But the song "Loving You Becomes Harming You" in the play has been popular to this day. On March 21, 2006, as a legend in the Chinese music scene, Pan Dihua attended the opening ceremony of the "Centennial Exhibition of Chinese Records" in Hong Kong and donated her first record released in the 1960s.
