Luo Jiaquan 羅家權

Luo Jiaquan 羅家權 (1904 - April 19, 1970), formerly known as Luo Shiqian, was born in Jun'an Town, Shunde, Guangdong Province. He was the eighth in the family and was respectfully called "Eighth Uncle" in the industry. He was a famous ugly actor in Cantonese opera. His elder brother Luo Jiashu is a famous Cantonese opera musician. Luo Jiaquan's son Luo Jiaying and nephew Luo Jiabao are both famous contemporary Cantonese opera actors. His wife Tan Xiaoer is known as the mother of Daji. In his early years, Luo Jiaquan once worshiped Liu Kuiguan, a famous Shanghai Peking Opera master, as his teacher and learned how to play King Zhou alive. Later, he organized the Dalongfeng Opera Troupe with Feng Jinghua, Qin Xiaoli, Feng Shaoxia and other famous actors. In the 1930s, he co-starred with Liang Shaojia, Liang Cibo, Li Ziyi and others in the drama "Dragon" based on "The Romance of the Gods". "Tiger Crossing Jiang Gong", he played the role of King Zhou in the play, so he was called "The King of Zhou". In 1933, his life class was disbanded due to the shooting of his apprentice Tang Feihu. In the 1940s, he performed plays such as "Xinmei Zhifu" and "Yu Guang Sword" in Guangzhou, which were also very popular with the audience. In 1946, he starred in the new fashion drama "I'm Crazy for You". In 1949, Luo Jiaquan took Luo Jiaying to settle in Hong Kong. The Dalongfeng Opera Troupe, which he formed together with Feng Jinghua, Qin Xiaoli, Feng Shaoxia and other famous actors, has been well-known in the Cantonese opera circles of the province, Hong Kong and Macao for many years. It has performed in various foreign places and is also very popular with audiences. In addition to performing Cantonese opera, he also filmed Cantonese opera films such as "Bao Gong's Night Trial of Guo Huai", "The City in Danger", "Wind and Fire Send Ci Yun", and "The Cremation of Daji". In 1957, he starred in the costume film "Dragon and Tiger Crossing Jiang Gong". In 1964, Luo Jiaquan went to San Francisco to perform with Qin Xiaoli again. Luo Jiaquan has profound acting skills, comprehensive acting skills, mellow and powerful singing voice, and is especially good at performing the opera with an open face and a robe. Luo Jiaquan died on April 19, 1970, at the age of 66.
