(1879-1968), formerly known as Gu Jinwen, also known as Jingzhang, was a native of Sanduoli, Xinfang, Gulaolongxi Village, Heshan City, Guangdong. Xiao Lizhang was born in a poor family when he was young and relied on his mother's income from needlework and weaving to make a living. Xiao Lizhang sign is handsome, smart, and powerful. He has attended school for two years and is proficient in writing and arithmetic. To support his family, he became a servant early and worked as a porter at Gulaowu Pier. At that time, the economy of Gulaowu was prosperous, merchants gathered, and the population was large. Food had to be transported from other places. Many rice shops on the fair had special "rice boats" (grain transport ships), and there were usually regular grain transport workers on the boats (these were the wages). It’s a hard and tiring job. Among the many porters, the owner of a certain shop valued Xiao Lizhang for his strong ability to bear heavy loads and his cautious and mature manner, so he allowed him to stay and eat on the boat. In his spare time from work, Xiao Lizhang has no other hobbies. He only likes to hum a few lines of Cantonese opera with others, or sing Muyu and Nanyin to amuse himself. The sound is pleasant to the ear and is appreciated by his companions. At that time, the Gulao people lived a stable life and often invited theater troupes from other places to perform in Wei. The theater troupes used special ships (commonly known as "red ships") to carry personnel, props, costumes, luggage, etc. Once, a red boat docked side by side with Xiao Lizhang's "rice boat". Xiao Lizhang's singing voice, which he often entertained himself with, surprised an "old man" on the neighboring boat. He thought that Xiao Lizhang had talent and qualifications and was a material for an artist. Seeing his tall figure, handsome features, and strong and clever movements, he invited him to cross the boat. , talk to him. He reacts quickly and has a strong receptive ability. He leads the opera and arias, and his movements are smooth . The old man was delighted to find a good talent, so he negotiated with Xiao Lizhang's mother and obtained permission to accept Xiao Lizhang as his apprentice. From then on, Xiao Lizhang stepped out of the "coolie" circle and transferred from the "rice boat" to the "red boat". Therefore, he came from a decent background as a "walk-in". Due to the lack of civilized culture at that time, male and female classes were divided into male and female classes in the theater industry, and the female actors in the male class were all performed by men. It happened that the class needed a Hua Dan, and the class member Xiao Lizhang's figure, voice, and skills were close to that of a female lead. The class leader asked Xiao Lizhang to change his career and play the role of Hua Dan. Xiao Lizhang was born with a tall figure, a sharp face, a gifted beauty and a beautiful posture. His singing voice was clear and mellow, which made the audition singing almost unreal. Xiao Lizhang also felt that this was a promising opportunity for development, so he became a disciple of Zha Jiansheng, a famous male actor at that time. Because of his good foundation in quality, he understood many skills with just a little instruction. With hard work and an open mind and willingness to learn, he soon became a master and changed his name to Xiao Lizhang. Xiao Lizhang received guidance from famous teachers and worked hard, and soon developed his acting skills. He first showed his talent by playing the role of Xiao Wu in the two scenes of "Luo Tongsao Bei", "Seizing the Seal" and "Taking Command", which is appreciated by the audience for its excellent singing and acting. He continued to act in martial arts dramas for a while and reached the upper reaches of the theater world. Xiao Lizhang was active in the 1930s and worked with Bai Yutang in the "Xingzhonghua Troupe". He was known as the "Sound King" and was gifted with a beautiful voice. He rarely used coloratura and sang with a high pitch. He was famous all over Nantian and was supported by a large audience, but he still suffered the bad luck of being expelled from the Chugu clan. But he had no grudges and no complaints. He still cared about his family and donated money to the primary school in Longxi from time to time. When one was in trouble, he was generous and often helped with huge sums of money. When his career was booming, an old military officer seduced his concubine, sold two of his buildings in Hong Kong, and fled with him. For this reason, he had no choice but to go to Hong Kong to deal with it, and ended his artistic career . He originally had children who opened a cafe in Honolulu, USA, so he simply went to the United States and never returned.
