唐滌生 Tang Disheng
唐滌生(1917年6月18日—1959年9月15日),原名唐康年,香港粵劇劇作家,籍貫是廣東香山(今珠海市唐家灣),在吉林省寧安縣出生。1935年回到廣東中山上學。在中山縣翠亨村紀念中學念書,他曾被選為學生會主席,主持學生運動、推動反對專制治校的“護校運動”和號召學生及鄉民支持抗日。1937年初,他到上海,先後入讀白鶴美術專科學校及滬江大學。並加入了“湖光劇團”,活躍於京劇、話劇和電影圈中。
1937年夏天,日軍侵華被逼輟學,南下香港,找到堂姊唐雪卿,並加入了唐雪卿和丈夫薛覺先創辦的“覺先聲男女劇團”任抄曲員及實習生。當時劇團已有麥嘯霞、南海十三郎、馮志芬等人擔任開戲師爺和編劇,唐滌生曾拜南海十三郎為師,又曾跟隨馮志芬等人學習寫戲。 不久就寫成第一部粵劇作品《江城解語花》,由“小生王”白駒榮(名伶白雪仙之父)主演,從此展開其編劇生涯。
當任劍輝白雪仙於1956年成立“仙鳳鳴劇團”,便聘用唐滌生為駐團編劇,他撰寫的劇本《落霞孤鶩》《紫釵記》《帝女花》《蝶影紅梨記》《再世紅梅記》等以其曲折動人的內容與優美的詞曲,經任劍輝、白雪仙、梁醒波等精湛的演出後,譽滿香江。後人編有《唐滌生戲劇生涯》一書。
1937年9月23日,唐滌生與薛覺先十妹薛覺清結為夫婦,婚後得一子一女,但此段婚姻維持不到三年後離異。後於1942年,與擅長舞蹈的上海京劇名伶鄭孟霞結婚並育得兩女。
1959年9月14日晚上,唐滌生的新作《再世紅梅記》在利舞台戲院首演。當演至第四場《脫阱救裴》時,唐滌生因腦溢血昏倒在觀眾席上,隨即被送往聖保祿醫院搶救,但於翌日(9月15日)清晨4時45分最終不治,終年42歲。唐滌生用短暫的一生在粵劇發展史上寫下了最光輝燦爛的一頁,他讓粵劇的發展和創作在上世紀五十年代進入了最輝煌、最鼎盛的時期,培育了一代又一代的粵劇演員,更帶動了潮流,吸引了無數的粵劇愛好者和觀眾。

Tang Disheng (June 18, 1917 - September 15, 1959), formerly known as Tang Kangnian, was a Hong Kong Cantonese opera playwright. His native place was Xiangshan, Guangdong (now Tangjiawan, Zhuhai City), and he was born in Ning'an County, Jilin Province. In 1935, he returned to Zhongshan, Guangdong to attend school. While studying at Cuiheng Village Memorial Middle School in Zhongshan County, he was elected as the president of the student union, presided over the student movement, promoted the "school protection movement" against authoritarian school governance, and called on students and villagers to support the anti-Japanese war. In early 1937, he went to Shanghai and studied at Baihe Art College and Hujiang University. He also joined the "Huguang Opera Troupe" and was active in Peking Opera, drama and film circles. In the summer of 1937, the Japanese invaded China and he was forced to drop out of school. He went south to Hong Kong, where he found his cousin sisther Tang Xueqing and joined the "Jue Xian Sheng Men and Women Troupe" founded by Tang Xueqing and her husband Xue Juexian as a composer and intern. At that time, the troupe already had Mai Xiaoxia, Nanhai Thirteenth Lang, Feng Zhifen and others as opera masters and scriptwriters. Tang Disheng once worshiped Nanhai Thirteenth Lang as his teacher, and also studied playwriting with Feng Zhifen and others. Soon he wrote the first Cantonese opera work "Jiangcheng Jieyuhua", starring the "niche king" Bai Jurong (father of the famous actress Bai Xuexian), and started his career as a screenwriter. When Ren Jianhui Bai Xuexian founded the "Xianfengming Theater" in 1956, they hired Tang Disheng as the resident screenwriter. He wrote the scripts "The Lonely Falcon in the Falling Clouds", "The Story of the Purple Hairpin", "The Emperor's Flower" and "The Story of Butterfly Shadow and Red Pear". "The Second Life of Red Plum Blossoms" and other works are well-known in Hong Kong for their twists and turns, moving content and beautiful lyrics and music, as well as superb performances by Ren Jianhui, Bai Xuexian, Liang Xingbo and others. Later generations compiled a book "Tang Disheng's Drama Career". On September 23, 1937, Tang Disheng married Xue Jueqing, Xue Juexian's tenth sister, and they had a son and a daughter. However, the marriage lasted less than three years before they divorced. Later, in 1942, he married Zheng Mengxia, a famous Shanghai Peking Opera actress who was good at dancing, and they had two daughters. On the evening of September 14, 1959, Tang Disheng's new work "The Second Life of Red Plum" premiered at Lee Theater Theatre. When the fourth performance of "Escape from the Trap" was performed, Tang Disheng collapsed in the audience due to cerebral hemorrhage and was immediately sent to St. Paul's Hospital for emergency treatment. However, he died at 4:45 am the next day (September 15). Aged 42. Tang Disheng wrote the most glorious page in the history of Cantonese opera in his short life. He brought the development and creation of Cantonese opera into its most glorious and prosperous period in the 1950s, and cultivated generations of Cantonese opera actors. , has also set the trend and attracted countless Cantonese opera lovers and audiences.
