賽麒麟Sai Qilin

According to Chen Shouren's "Rituals, Beliefs, Acting: Divine Cantonese Opera in Hong Kong", Sai Qilin's original name was Cui Yiu-keung (Chan Shouren, 1996: 79); performed by "Long Jiafeng Troupe" The program was recorded as "Cui Shaoqiang" (2000, a program sponsored by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department). Sai Qilin was born in Panyu. He studied under Ouyang Jian and entered the art industry in 1942. His profession is student and ugly role. Sai Qilin's father was an actor in a theater troupe. Influenced by his father and the theater troupe, Sai Qilin participated in Cantonese opera performances at the age of 9 as a spare role. When he was older, he tried to play the role of a martial artist until 1974 when he became an ugly student. From the 1980s to the 1990s, he mostly performed in medium-sized and large-scale theater troupes, performing about 80 days a year. His first repertoire includes "Lü Mengzheng: Commenting on Snow and Distinguishing Traces" (1998), "Da Ming". He passed away at 2016.
