Metro Radio issued a statement this evening confirming the death of Cheng Kai Tai at the age of 56. Eric Cheng Kai Tai (Eric Cheng Kai Tai, February 13, 1967 - February 3, 2024), a Hong Kong radio and television host, disc jockey, actor and emcee, was a disc jockey of Metro Radio and a basic artist of TVB Contract and Shaw Brothers artist. Cheng Kai-tai has served as the on-site announcer for the awards ceremony from the 31st Hong Kong Film Awards to the 41st Hong Kong Film Awards in 2012 to 2023. Cheng Kai-tai moved to Lok Man San Estate in Kowloon in the second grade of primary school to live next to Ekin Cheng. He and his friends organized a football team called "Bolo Wah" since he was a child. After graduating from Form 5, he went to Ontario, Canada to study. He graduated from the University of Windsor and studied two degrees: Communication (TV and Film Production) and Bachelor of Business Administration. He returned to Hong Kong to work at a commercial radio station and was taught by Yan Lianwu as a disc jockey to host "Everything Starts with Music". In addition, he has hosted many programs, including "Happy World" (co-hosted with Li Haishan and Shao Guohua) and so on. Later he was promoted to senior producer. In 1995, he also started hosting programs for Hong Kong Cable TV and narrating several TV commercials. Cheng Kai Tai moved to Metro Entertainment Channel (later renamed Metro News Channel) after 1999. He served as executive producer and host of the station, and hosted "Happy Alarm Clock" with Huang Zhan, and "Good Life in the Country" (with Huang Zhan, Wu Yongwei, Yuan Caiyun, Zhu Kaiting and other co-hosts) and other programs. In 2007, he became a non-contract host, and later joined Asia Television. He served as program announcer and narrator for the station, and also served as a tutor for Asia Television's artist training class. In 2012, he left Asia Television. In 2014, he joined DBC Digital Radio and co-hosted "Gloucester Road 3" with Li Jiaer. On November 1, 2017, he joined TVB through the TVB "Love Home" hotline. In addition to radio and television, Cheng Kai Tai also serves as the emcee for many evening parties. In recent years, he has trained employees in communication skills and language usage for many companies (China Mobile, Lijia Ge, and government agencies).
