王超群Wong Chiu Kwan

Her original name is Wong Ruiqun. She is a Hong Kong Cantonese opera actress (Zhengyindan). She is famous for her martial arts in the Northern School. Since the mid-1960s, she has studied under the male actor Tan Shanshan and sang under Master Liu Yongquan. She began to learn opera in the 1960s and entered the industry in the 1970s. At the same time, she played roles such as Mei Xiang in a class, and then gradually rose to other more important roles. In the 1980s, she toured around Singapore and Malaysia. In the 1990s, she returned to Hong Kong and officially became a Cantonese opera star. She is famous for her performance in "Tie the Foot, Liu Jinding, Kill the Four Doors" and "Tie the Foot". She has performed in many works including "Tie Jiao Liu Jin Ding Kills Four Doors", "Tie Jiao Liu Jin Ding Breaks the Fire Dragon Array", "Li Gang Beats Bai Guxian Three Times", and "Dream Butterfly Love". She has performed in the UK, the United States, Australia, Canada and other places. She has collaborated with many literary and martial arts students - she formed Qianqun Cantonese Opera Troupe with Wen Chit-sui, Ruan Siu-fai's Feng Qiuhuang Theater Company, Luo Jiaying formed Daqunying Theater Company, Lung Guantian's Guanquntian Theater Company, Li Long formed Yongguang Opera Company, and has collaborated with many other actors. Civil and military students include: Wu Qianfeng, Chen Jiansheng, Liang Hanwei and others. In 2006, she became a mentor and apprentice with Yue Opera performing artist Mr. Shi Jihua and studied different types of characters. In addition to continuing to participate in Cantonese opera, she will also participate in related community promotion and education work. Currently, she is the emerging artistic director of Yau Ma Tei Theater and serves as the instructor of "Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts" (Chinese Opera).
