余慕蓮（Yu Mo Lin）

She is famous for playing an ugly woman. Yu Mo Lin left TVB in 2010 and switched to Hong Kong Television in 2012. A year and a half later, she lost money and terminated the contract because she was dissatisfied with being only assigned to play negative roles. Yu Mo Lin was born in Guangzhou and came to Hong Kong from Guangzhou at the age of 11; her mother, Tang Meimei, is a second-tier actress in Cantonese films, and her younger sister, Yu Zhili (stage name Gai Jiankui, deceased), was the apprentice of the late Cantonese opera star Yam Kim Fai. Yu lived in Sham Shui Po in his early years. He entered primary school at the age of 11 and graduated from primary school at the age of 17. Later, she was introduced by Cao Tat-wah to work as an usher at Shek Kip Mei Palace Theatre, and then worked as a salesgirl in Renren Department Store, Daimaru and Hong Kong Xianshi Department Store. In her spare time, she joined a drama troupe, and was the heroine of "The Taming of the Shrew" in the theater troupe. She developed her interest in acting since she was a child. When she was a child, she went to Bei Ha Theater to watch Kwong Arts Film Company's movies, and she also went to movie sets with her mother to watch Tse Yin filming. In 1969, she entered the television industry through a part-time job as a part-time actor on the TVB morning morning current affairs program "Xiao Xiao Ji Ji". Since then, she has performed in TV series, including "Happy Tonight". During the heyday of Hong Kong films, she also participated in performances, such as the "Fantasy Girl" series of movies. Usually she plays the role of a female worker, a servant, or a funny village girl, etc. She usually doesn't have many roles as a Licorice actress, but her more notable role was as an inspector in the 1991 situation drama "Kara House". In 2005, Yu Mo Lin spent more than 80,000 yuan from the long-term service pension (retirement pension) of HK$200,000 given to her by TVB to build a primary school in Bijie City, Guizhou Province, located in the mountainous area, named "Yu Mo Lin Hope Primary School" , is also the first formal primary school in Ashi Township, Bijie City, located next to County Road 740. On June 30, 2020, Dongxiwang reported that Yu Mo Lin, who had not been acting for many years, suffered from ear diseases and was later confirmed to have otolithiasis. In August of the same year, Yu was admitted to the hospital due to coughing and discomfort. She was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis and stayed in the hospital for eight days for treatment. In November, she was sent to the intensive care unit of Queen Elizabeth Hospital due to pulmonary fibrosis and needed to rely on equipment to help her breathe. The situation was critical. Fortunately, Yu Mo Lin was finally able to leave the hospital and go home to recuperate after half a year of treatment. Recently, she launched her autobiography and announced that the cost of the book will not be deducted, and all proceeds will be donated to the Children's Cancer Fund. Her charity has been supported by many artists, and all 2,000 copies of the first edition have been subscribed internally. So far, 400,000 Hong Kong dollars have been raised for charity.
