朱秀英 Zhu Xiuying

朱秀英 Zhu Xiuying(1921—2003)出生于马来西亚粤剧世家,原籍东莞,父亲朱家乐是乐师,姐姐朱秀玲、朱秀蓉都是花旦,兄弟朱毅刚、朱庆祥、朱兆祥为粤剧音乐家,朱秀英1929年入行,8、9岁便在马来西亚登台演出。抗战期间,怡保剧团邓秋侠 、朱秀英等,为 “献机” 抗日,坚持 “三个月不领工资” 。 1950年朱秀英来港发展,曾与罗品超及邓碧云合作演出,朱秀英后与薛觉先合作,薛觉先当年来马来西亚走埠的戏班,拍档其中包括秦小梨、新飞凤、张舞柳、林艳、朱秀英和谭倩红等花旦。在越南演出名剧《女儿香》时,朱秀英分别演出正印花旦梅暗香和文武生魏昭仁的角色。朱秀英1962年参与林家声的“庆新声剧团”;1966年参与邓碧云的“碧云天剧团”到美国演出,演文武生。1974年带领“雏凤鸣剧团”在新加坡演出,梁醒波退出后,朱秀英曾接任该团正印丑生多届。1998年新光戏院为她从艺70年作纪念演出扎脚戏《刁蛮公主伏楚霸之欢送》及《女儿香》。2003年朱秀英因中风逝世,她拥有的一批珍贵戏曲收藏品,部分捐赠香港中文大学戏曲资料中心收藏。 Zhu Xiuying (1921-2003) was born in a Malaysian Cantonese opera family and was originally from Dongguan. Her father Zhu Jiale was a musician, her sisters Zhu Xiuling and Zhu Xiurong were both Hua Dan, and her brothers Zhu Yigang, Zhu Qingxiang and Zhu Zhaoxiang were Cantonese opera musicians. Zhu Xiuying entered the industry in 1929 and started performing at the age of 8 or 9. At the beginning she performed on stage in Malaysia. During the Anti-Japanese War, Ipoh theater troupe Tang Qiuxia, Zhu Xiuying and others insisted on "not receiving wages for three months" in order to "dedicate their opportunity" to the anti-Japanese war. In 1950, Zhu Xiuying came to Hong Kong to develop, and she collaborated with Luo Pinchao and Tang Biyun. Zhu Xiuying later collaborated with Sit Juexian, who came to Malaysia to travel to the theater troupe. His partners included Qin Xiaoli, Xin Feifeng, Zhang Wuliu, Lin Yan, Zhu Xiuying and Tan Qianhong and other actresses. When she performed in the famous drama "Nuer Xiang" in Vietnam, Zhu Xiuying played the roles of the female character Mei Anxiang and the civil and military student Wei Zhaoren respectively. In 1962, Zhu Xiuying participated in Lam Jiasheng's "Qing Xinsheng Theater Company"; in 1966, she participated in Tang Biyun's "Bi Yuntian Theater Company" and performed in the United States, playing the role of a civil and military student. In 1974, she led the "Young Fengming Theater Troupe" to perform in Singapore. After Liang Xingbo withdrew, Zhu Xiuying took over as the troupe's official director for many terms. In 1998, Sunbeam Theater commemorated her 70th anniversary with performances of "Farewell of the Unruly Princess Fu Chuba" and "Scent of a Daughter". Zhu Xiuying passed away due to a stroke in 2003. Some of her precious opera collections were donated to the Opera Information Center of the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
