朱普泉（Chu Po-Chuen）

He had a long neck and deliberately stuttered his dialogue when acting, often making the audience laugh. Chu Po-Chuen co-starred with Zhu Jianqin, the wife of Cantonese opera singer Chu Bin, in "Yalan Selling Pigs", in which he played the leading role of Daxiang Yalan. Before World War II, Chu Po-Chuen was as famous as Lin Kunshan and made a lot of money. Unfortunately, he became addicted to drugs, namely morphine and opium, which were popular at the time. When the Japanese invaded Hong Kong, all the studios closed down and there was nothing to film. Chu Po-Chuen performed in Cantonese opera with Yi Qiushui, and his salary was so meager that he could only buy a few hundred grams of white rice to fill his stomach. Since he had no money to buy opium anymore, he had no choice but to quit, but his physical condition became worse! In early July 1943, during the school summer vacation, when Chu Po-Chuen was participating in a film called "Modern Tears" at the Guangzhou Asia Sound Film Company, he met an actress named Suniya, who ran a hotel in Wan Chai. "Chinese Music Circle", she was so loyal that she was willing to spend all her seven-night income to help Chu Po-Chuen, except for the lamp oil and wax fees. Unfortunately, Zhu Puquan died in 1943.
