Singing artist Lee Yee

Lee Yee ( Li Yi February 10, 1952 - July 27, 1980), formerly known as Lee Kim Peow, was a native of Putian, Fujian. A Malaysian singer who became popular in Malaysian Chinese circles in the 1970s, he was also hailed as the "Elvis Presley of Malaysian Music" by local media. His sensual and touching singing voice captivated the hearts of many young men and women. Li Yi studied in the middle school branch of primary school. He has good conduct and is deeply loved by his teachers and classmates. Although Li Yi once represented the school in a singing competition and won an award, his favorite thing at that time was not singing, but playing war games! However, when he was in middle school, his personality began to enter the rebellious period of teenagers. Li Yi liked to ride motorcycles on rampages, ride motorcycles around Penang Island with a group of friends, and perform exciting racing performances. Many young people have experienced the period of youth rebellion! In 1971, when Li Yi was 19 years old, he signed up to participate in the National Genius Singing Competition organized by RTM. After winning the championship in Penang District with his song "One Road in Life", he represented Penang District in Kuala Lumpur. National Finals. The band responsible for accompaniment on the night of the finals was (Memory Band) (one of the members was the prodigal son who later became Li Yi's good friend). After several rounds of fierce competition, Li Yi finally won the national championship with his song "Ask Baiyun" and began to sign a contract with Xinlian Records. In 1972, Xinlian Records closed down. Li Yi signed a contract with Li Feng Records, released his first album "Tears", and sang on the same stage with fellow singers Teresa Teng, Wan Shalang, Luo Wen, Xie Lei and others. Among them, Teresa Teng came to Malaysia for a tour, and Li Yi also sang duet with Teresa Teng on the same stage. Later, he also played the role of "Hua Wu" in Teresa Teng's opera "Tang Bohu Spots Autumn Fragrance". In 1973, he collaborated with Qiu Qingyun and Chen Meifeng to release the album "Song of Everlasting Sorrow", which sold more than 10,000 copies, setting the highest sales record for opera records at the time. Therefore, he was dubbed the "Prince of Opera" by the media. In 1974, he performed with the "Star Opera Company" in the UK and the Netherlands. In 1975, he released the album "Sing a Love Song for Someone", which sold more than 10,000 copies. Among them, "Sing a Love Song for Someone" also became Li Yi's famous song. In 1980, the album "Three Years" was released. Just in 1980, in the middle of the night on July 26, a ruthless car accident took away Li Yi, who was only 28 years old at the time. According to the police report, Li Yi was walking to a friend's house to discuss performing on stage at Longmen Nightclub in Batu Pahat. Li Yi married Singaporean singer Li Tingting (formerly known as Li Hanqiong) in 1975. Li Tingting returned to Singapore after Li Yi's death and gave birth to a daughter shortly after quitting the music scene, named Li Sijia.
