午馬Wu Ma

He is a Hong Kong drama actor, film and television actor, director, and screenwriter. Graduate of the first class of Shaw Brothers Southern Experimental Theater Company. Disciple and private student of Hong Kong directors Chang Cheh and King Hu. In 1959, he moved to Hong Kong with his family. In 1963, he became a film and television actor after joining Shaw Brothers and joined the Hong Family Class. During this period, he studied under Zhang Che and worked as an assistant director. In 1965, he became famous after starring in "Mulan" directed by Chang Cheh and Yuan Qiufeng. In 1970, he independently directed the movie "The Furious Sword". In 1980, he participated in the comedy film "Salted Fish Reincarnation" directed by Mai Jia. In 1987, he became well-known to the audience for his role as Yan Chixia in the movie "A Chinese Ghost Story" and won the Best Supporting Actor Award at the 24th Taiwan Film Golden Horse Awards. In 1994, Wu Ma starred in the movie "Six Finger Piano Demon". In 2001, he starred in the TV series "For This Pure Land". In 2004, he starred in the costume movie "The Dominatrix and the Oiran", playing the role of Song Yasi Song Jiang. In 2010, he played Jizha in the costume drama "The Legend of Sun Tzu". In 2012, he won the first and only leading actor award in his acting career - the Best Actor Award at the 15th Shanghai International Film Festival Film Channel Media Awards for his outstanding performance in the movie "Painting Saint". On March 20, 2014, "The Makeup Artist", the last posthumous thriller comedy film directed by Wu Ma during his lifetime, was released. On July 28, 2015, the last domestic emotional film "Waiting for Love Returns" that Wu Ma participated in during his lifetime was released. On September 7, 2016, he won the Lifetime Honorary Award for Chinese Film at the 20th Huading Award. On December 2, 2018, it won the Classic Time Award at the first Shaoxing Keqiao Emerging Film Festival. On February 4, 2014, Wu Ma died of advanced lung cancer in Hong Kong at the age of 71.
