吴美英Wu Mei Ying

吳美英Wu Mei Ying（出生年份不詳），香港粵劇演員，原名潘桂妹。籍貫番禺，出生地點香港。自1994年11月至今，她是鳴芝聲劇團的合約花旦，曾赴美國、加拿大、英國、澳洲、日本、中國、新加坡、澳門等地演出。 吳美英出身於戲劇世家，養父吳尚英是粵劇生角演員，叔父吳漢英是武生。她初時師承許君漢師傅學習古典舞蹈，並且隨他在夜總會獻藝。及後跟隨父親學南派粵劇，唱功師傅是廖森，北派師傅是許君漢。 60年代末吴美英初出道時，在澳門賭船演粵劇，做二幫花旦。三個月後便升上正印花旦。回港後，她曾在啟德遊樂場粵劇場和阮兆輝、梁漢威等拍檔演出。她曾經參與大型粵劇交流演出。 70年代中期，隨陳好逑走埠美加。1975年，她自組大英華劇團，伙拍文千歲。名劇《白龍關》是她與文千歲、梁醒波的開山劇目。 吳美英得到班政家黃炎、林家聲、任冰兒提攜，1978年4月28日任“覺先聲劇團”正印花旦演茶果嶺神功戲；1979年任“家美劇團”正花，主會又指定梁醒波演鴨脷洲神功戲；之後還有多次和聲哥共結台緣。 70年代，吳美英與梁漢威多次到新加坡演街戲（即神功戲）。也曾在新加坡新世界百老匯台和牛車水人民劇場演出。從藝五十年，自1994年11月加盟鳴芝聲劇團至今，她和蓋鳴暉無間斷拍檔了廿三載，創粵劇生旦合作記錄。 2015年2月23日，吳美英演出《聊齋驚夢》，在第三幕“焙衣誘情”時出意外。生旦一起摔倒，蓋鳴暉傷右手韌帶，吳美英則右腳嚴重骨裂，鑲上七顆螺絲釘接骨。傷患經一年時間才完全復原。2023年參加TVB歡樂滿東華；吳美英從1984年起便擔任香港八和會館第廿二屆、第廿五屆及 第廿六屆理事。她也曾在2013年擔任粵劇發展基金顧問委員會之成員至2017年7月。 Wu Mei Ying吳美英 (year of birth unknown), Hong Kong Cantonese opera actress, formerly known as Pan Guimei. Her native place is Panyu and her birthplace is Hong Kong. Since November 1994, she has been a contract actress of Ming Zhisheng Theater Company and has performed in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, Japan, China, Singapore, Macau and other places. Wu Mei Ying was born in a drama family. Her adoptive father Wu Shengying was a Cantonese opera actor, and her uncle Wu Hanying was a martial arts student. She first learned classical dance from Master Xu Junhan and performed with him in nightclubs. Later, she followed her father to learn Cantonese opera from the southern style. The singing master was Liao Sen and the northern style master was Xu Junhan. When Wu Mei Ying first debuted in the late 1960s, she performed Cantonese opera in Macau's gambling boats and worked as a second-hand actress. Three months later it rose to Zhengyindan. After returning to Hong Kong, she performed in the Cantonese Theater of Kai Tak Playground with partners such as Yuen Siu-fai and Leung Han-wai. She has participated in large-scale Cantonese opera exchange performances. In the mid-1970s, she followed Chen Haoqi to the United States and Canada. In 1975, she formed her own British Chinese Theater Company and partnered with Wen Chitose. The famous drama "White Dragon Pass" is her first drama with Wen Qiansui and Liang Xingbo. Wu Mei Ying was supported by class leaders Huang Yan, Lin Jiasheng and Ren Bing'er. On April 28, 1978, she was appointed as the principal dancer of the "Jue Xiansheng Theater Company" to perform in the Cha Guoling Shengong drama; in 1979, she was appointed as the principal member of the "Jia Mei Theater Company". The main association also appointed Liang Xingbo to perform in the Ap Lei Chau magic drama; after that, she and Sheng Ge shared the stage many times. In the 1970s, Wu Mei Ying and Liang Hanwei went to Singapore many times to perform street opera (that is, magical opera). Wu Mei Ying has also performed at New World Broadway in Singapore and the People's Theater in Chinatown. She has been in the arts for 50 years. Since joining the Ming Chi Sing Theater Company in November 1994, she has been partnering with Guy Ming-fai continuously for 23 years, creating a record of collaboration between Cantonese opera singers and dancers. On February 23, 2015, Wu Mei Ying performed "Strange Dreams in a Chinese Studio" and had an accident during the third act of "Baking Clothes to Seduce Love". Shengdan fell down together, and Gai Minghui injured the ligaments in his right hand, while Wu Mei Ying suffered a severe bone fracture in her right foot, which required seven screws to fix the bone. It took a year for the injury to fully recover. In 2023, she participates in TVB's "Happy Tung Wah"; Wu Mei Ying has served as the 22nd, 25th and 26th directors of the Hong Kong Eight Wo Association since 1984.
